In the time machine, Squidward decides he has to go back to the past. SpongeTron points him to the can opener by mistake, and then to the time machine. Squidward wants to go back, and asks SpongeTron for advice. He says they have to do something, and the first thing that comes to the SpongeTron clones’ minds is jellyfishing, which summons Patron. SpongeTron introduces his clones, SpongeTrons X, Y, and Z, and after hearing there are clones for all 486 letters of the future, Squidward is simply too baffled to comprehend anymore. Squidward looks out the door, as a flower blossoms and is immediately painted chrome, he realizes SpongeTron is right. Squidward looks around, and notices how everything is chrome. “Everything is chrome in the future!” SpongeTron explains. Squidward asks who the figure is, and the figure presents himself as SpongeTron. Squidward, in an ice block is discovered by a being resembling SpongeBob, who uses a laser-hammer to thaw him. Squidward is still frozen, as the rust holding the door to the wall finally breaks off. Squidward hopes people will notice he’s gone, and will be rescued soon. Squidward is ready to leave, but the handle falls off. SpongeBob and Patrick ignore him, guessing he already went to Jellyfish Fields. However, he hears SpongeBob and Patrick coming after him, and he tries to hide, eventually winding up in the freezer. He goes back inside and walks out the back door, behind SpongeBob and Patrick, all the way to the Krusty Krab, so he can practice his clarinet in peace. He asks if SpongeBob should be at work, but it’s a Sunday. They eventually appear behind him to ask, but he demands they go out. They repeatedly ask Squidward if he’s ready, and he denies each time. Patrick thinks he doesn’t want to play, but SpongeBob assures he just needs more time to get ready. They ask if he’s ready, and he clearly denies. He hears a knock at the door, and sees SpongeBob and Patrick. SpongeBob says he’ll be right over, as Squidward pulls the clarinet out of his mouth. SpongeBob asks if Squidward wants to go jellyfishing, but when he tries to yell, the clarinet blocks his words. He gets ready, only to be annoyed by SpongeBob’s alarm clock, which lodges his clarinet in his throat. This episode begins in the morning, as Squidward prepares to play his clarinet, so get out your earplugs.
